How big is your idea?

Boredom fun — tackling trouble with bookmarks

How many of you been in a situation experimenting with new technology, tool, or anything that fascinates you, dreaming miles to click an idea that blows the traditional todo challenges?

Of course, todo MVC can be a great learning experience when experimenting with a new tech stack. But how much does it excites you on seeing it in action is a big question?🤔

One reason I’ve fallen love with web technologies is the power to build and see things in action. Well, there is a lot beyond visualizations but to be honest the visualizations, fancy screens drive us initially right?

Cool, let me dive straight into the point.I’ve come across a new prototyping tool glide.

Someone posted about it on Linkedin. Later, I’ve been seeing many other postings about some cool data handling apps build on glide. Even a few of the apps helping with the COVID crisis were chosen and published at Hindu news articles.

It’s been a while I’ve tried a website builder or app builder kind of tools. But the above highlights raised my level of curiosity to experiment with its flexibility.

An experimentation will never disappoint you,if it’s a self-driven one.

Cool, now I am going to build an app. But what the app is going to do?

  • How about building virtual assistance — with cool speech recognition, screen recording,3d scenes?

— Will probably take years for a person like me who doesn’t know what an XML does and haven’t succeeded in running the android studio at least once in my lifetime😂

  • How about a corona tracker?

— Try googling, you’ll find thousands of similar results. Not that cool right?

My goal is not to rock the entire world with my cool app. I just wish to experiment with the prototyping tool 🙃

What if the same experimentation could add some value and excites me to the core when developing it?

What if it helps me solving my all-time classic problem in real-time?

Sounds cool right?😎

Trust me, something small yet useful can make wonders.

Have a look at the below screenshots,

  • What if you have similar items in your bookmarks like this?

At times I save lots of codepen samples and stack overflow solutions as bookmarks so that I can access them when needed. You may save design inspirations, code samples, templates, some blog posts, etc. Haven’t you struggled to find them later since almost all have the same names appended to the same domain as the one above?

The below are the stack overflow solutions I’ve bookmarked,

This one is after filtering via search, still in can be painful if there are 100 more.

What I need is a way to categorize these bookmarks, personalize them with thumbnails, tags, and relevant names (something little user-friendly than default link or extracted meta title).

pingeasy — my personalized bookmark manager app makes this job easier.

Let me share a few screenshots of how it helps me in personalizing bookmarks.

This way of organizing my bookmarks with tabs(categories), easy to search filters, attractive thumbnail, and custom names for accessibility makes my job easier.

If I had a way to import my bookmarks to a spreadsheet this app would be in my prime use list.

It’s painful, but worths in my case…

It’s highly customized to serve my purpose. Hardly, someone excluding me would love to use this😜. But you can just play around this on the mobile with this link.

I would not recommend glide for complex dynamic application use-cases. But if you have data that could fit into a spreadsheet go ahead and create one now to simplify the way you work with those data.

Happy gliding!
